- Type: Routes/Roads Features N°392This communication analyses the latest experiences with regard to slope and foundation drainage as well as the management of runoff water in order to improve the resilience of road infrastructures. The actions were required as a result of the seasonal rainfall and the adverse meteorological conditions between the months of January and February 2010 and 2018, which caused singular damage to various road slopes in northern Spain. The repairs aimed to restore road safety and stability. With regard to the drainage of slopes and embankments, the work performed on the embankment of the A-8 motorway included its stabilisation through the use of biological engineering. All the actions presented in this article have proved their worth over the last few years of road operations.
